Grand Bay, Mauritius
About the course:
Set on the breath-taking north-eastern coast of the island, Mont Choisy Le Golf, is set to become one of the favorite and most popular golf courses in Mauritius. The course is being built on old sugar cane lands, and the soft rolling terrain provides an ideal setting for a stunning Peter Matkovich master piece. The course is routed along some gently rolling hills and mounds, a couple of newly created lakes, and through one or two trees areas.
Peter first visited this site 18 years ago, and have walked a long and exciting road with the family who has developed the project, and together with his construction team and landscaping expertise of Patrick Watson, they have transformed the previously uniform piece of sugarcane land into an exciting and colourful walk in the park.
Keeping up with the standard set in Peter’s other courses on Mauritius, the Heritage Golf Club in Bel Ombre, and the Avalon course in Bois Chery, the course at Mont Choisy promises golfers a truly great golfing experience, set within a breath-taking setting.
Peter Matkovich said the following:
“A dream comes true! 18 years ago I drove down the beautiful flamboyant lane into the stately homestead of Mont Choisy.
As I looked at the gently flowing land of the cane fields, I dreamt of one day building a golf course here, a championship golf course that will stand out in Mauritius …… today that dream is becoming a reality.
Mont Choisy will be much more than another Championship Golf Course. Most of all it will be a “Mauritius” golf course accentuating the natural beauty of the island, its mountain views and the history of the special old family farm.
